Turnmills Up All Night

October 14th, 2007 ahowes

With our friends Eric and Amy in town, we decided to hit up one of London’s most popular clubs, Turnmills and party all night.

We got to the club about midnight and left about 5am. We bounced from room to room (three rooms all with different DJs) and enjoyed always short queues to the bar. It was a brilliant club night, capped off by Tall Paul and an excellent set by Paul Oakenfold.

We’re thinking about hitting up Turnmills one more night before we go, but it’s taking 2 days to recover!

Next Stop, Philly!

October 3rd, 2007 ahowes

Now I know that Philly is not in Europe, but Lelia and I are heading back to the states for several days to go to a friend’s wedding. It will be nice to be back in the states for a few days and visit with some friends!

So what have we been doing? Well, Lelia’s sister and brother-in-law were out to visit, so we spent the last 4 days hanging out with them. It was great to see them! We walked around London and Greenwich, visited Leeds Castle (the castle was cool, the but the maze on the grounds was awesome), went for afternoon tea and saw a play called Rhinoceros at the Royal Court Theatre.

Afternoon tea was fun, but I think I enjoy the pub traditions of England a little more.

What have we been up to?

So, probably not much surprise, but I’m not to good about keeping this blog up to date…so lets try to recap what we’ve been up to!

So over the past weekend, a old friend of mine (Max) was in town with his girlfriend visiting London and Paris. So we all hung out and had dinner and a few drinks, it was nice to see a friendly face! The rest of the weekend was spent taking advantage of the Open House weekend where many London sights opened up to the public and wandering around the Thames Festival, a festival along the south bank of the Thames.

Tuesday, we spent the day in Brighton, a popular town on the southern coast of England. It was beautiful day to walk along the beach and around town, get a cup of tea and some freshly made donuts! I would totally go back there, especially to spent a night because the town looks to have a pretty exciting night life.

I am still updating my flickr stream regularly, check it out for our latest pictures!

Week 2

September 9th, 2007 ahowes

We’re rolling into week 2 in the UK. I think we’re finally settled in and have been having a good time so far. We’ve done a lot of walking so far, we walked through Hyde Park, all over Greenwich and through Soho. By Saturday night, we needed a break so we went to see a movie, Run Fatboy Run, with Simon Pegg. Really funny, not going to win any awards but was fun to see.

Sunday we spent the day at the Brick Lane Music Festival. Brick Lane is basically a street of curry houses in the middle of the hipster district. Saw one really good band (Tom Mansi & The Ice Breakers), the other band we say kind of sucked. The festival was wicked packed so we took off a little early and went do to Trafalgar Square to the Sports Cafe to watch the start of the Patriots season. They scored on the first drive so it was a good start!

I’ve updated my pictures on flickr, and have
also geo-tagged all of the pictures so you can see them in context on a flickr map!

London Bloging

September 7th, 2007 ahowes

I figured I would dust off the blog to use as a way to keep track of what Lelia and I have been up to on our Eurotrip.

So what have we been doing? We spent the day walking along the south bank of the Thames, spent the day at the Tower of London, took a great tour of Salisbury and Stonehenge and walked around Hyde Park.

To see all my photos, check out my Eurotrip07 flickr page.

London

May 10th, 2004 ahowes

Went to London for vacation last week…what any amazing city. I could go there every year for vacation. What I need to do is find a London-based company to hire me and move me to London. That would be ideal.
